However, it is important to note that the impact is not solely positive. In this regard, social and cultural impacts often become issues that require serious attention. Local communities often experience negative consequences due to interactions with tourists, especially foreign tourists, resulting in the erosion of traditional values and the emergence of negative responses towards the visitors. Communication between local communities and tourists is sometimes limited to commercial transactions, lacking in-depth cultural interactions. This often results in short-lived, business-driven positive attitudes. Additionally, the introduction of foreign cultural elements that are not in harmony with the local culture often creates tensions in communication. Consequently, local communities may develop feelings of discomfort and dislike towards tourists. This research aims to further investigate the impact of communication and interactions between local communities and tourists, particularly foreign tourists.
Ariel Josie Charistheo Ginting, Jayanti Jayanti ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://jurnal.harapan.ac.id/index.php/Vernacular/article/view/827 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 15:13:45 +0000 Implicatures Generated from Non-Observances Maxim in The Interview of The Indonesian President https://jurnal.harapan.ac.id/index.php/Vernacular/article/view/837
The aims of this research are to find out the conversational implicatures generated by President Jokowi during an interview with BBC News Indonesia. To analyze the data, the researcher applies the theory of implicature and the non-observance maxims by Grice. In data analysis, the researcher employs the qualitative data method by Miles and Huberman (2014). The research findings reveal that there are 16 specific implicatures identified out of 18 data instances in the conversation, while the other 2 are general implicatures. Furthermore, the researcher identifies various forms of non-observance maxims, with the most frequently found was the flouting of the maxim of quantity.
Tiara Adena, Zuindra Zuindra, Hendra Mulia ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://jurnal.harapan.ac.id/index.php/Vernacular/article/view/837 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 15:15:43 +0000 Deixis in All Too Well Movie Script https://jurnal.harapan.ac.id/index.php/Vernacular/article/view/838
This research is about Deixis in All Too Well movie script.
