Abstract

Trip scheduling at CV. Mandiri Abadi is currently managed using conventional methods; consequently, data regarding the fleet, drivers, and schedules remain unintegrated, creating a risk of scheduling conflicts and inequitable task distribution. This study aims to develop a web-based Digital Fleet Scheduling system using a Fleet Management System (FMS) approach to support fleet management and trip scheduling. A mixed-methods approach with a Sequential Exploratory design was employed, while the system was developed using the Waterfall method. The study contributes an integrated scheduling system that implements Rule-Based Scheduling using IF–THEN logic based on travel time, a minimum 8-hour rest period, fleet and driver availability, driver active status, and a priority for the lowest number of assignments. Evaluation was conducted by testing scheduling rules against 2,007 historical trip records spanning six months. Test results revealed that conventional scheduling produced 362 rest-period conflicts (18.04%). Following the implementation of the scheduling rules, the number of conflicts dropped to zero, with 361 of the 362 problematic assignments successfully reassigned to other drivers. The percentage of valid schedules increased from 81.96% to 99.95%. Furthermore, the standard deviation of assignments per driver decreased from 26.46 to 10.53—a reduction of 60.21%—demonstrating the potential for more equitable distribution of driver assignments.
